St. Georges, Grenada

The Carenage

Fort St. George

We took a bus to the city of St. George (the Capital of Grenada) to visit the open air market and Fort St. George. The market has all manner of vegetables, fruit, spices and flowers. The aroma of nutmeg and cinnamon is powerfull. The town is built around a natural harbour (The Carenage) and is bustling with people. Hurricane Ivan hit the island in 2004 and they are still recovering from it. Grenada has a population of about 100,000 people and the main language is english.
