EVEN NOW; WITH A THOUSAND LITTLE VOYAGES UNDER MY BELT.
I STILL FEEL A MEMORIAL CHILL ON CASTING OFF.

Woke to a foggy morning - did some maintenance waiting for it to lift and finally headed out around 8:45. Made it to Howell Heflin Lock & Dam with a 36 foot drop around noon. Quiet peacefull rest of the day with not much barge traffic, but still lots of debris in the water. We anchored at mile 245.2 in one of our most favorite sections of the river at the White Cliffs of Epes.
