EVEN NOW; WITH A THOUSAND LITTLE VOYAGES UNDER MY BELT.
I STILL FEEL A MEMORIAL CHILL ON CASTING OFF.

Old San Juan is a must when visiting Puerto Rico. The seven block area is steeped in history and culture (five centuries worth). It was founded by Ponce de Leon as a military stronghold in 1510. The construction of Fort San Cristobal began in 1664 and is one of the largest military structures built in the Americas. It is linked to El Morro by a half-mile of cannon-protected stone walls. The construction of El Morro was financed by the treasury of Mexico under orders from the King of Spain in 1539 and was finally completed in 1783. El Morro has defended San Juan for centuries against naval forces of Holland, Britain, and France, as well as hundreds of pirate vessels. Drake and his forces were defeated in 1595, a large British armada in 1797, but El Morro finally fell to the Americans in 1898. Many of the gates to this once walled city still remain.

Wayne seems to have a way with birds - I like the one sitting on his hat. Believe it or not he escaped unscathed.
